Governor Agbu Kefas has intensified efforts towards the implementation of the Taraba Development Master Plan 2024.
This follows his stakeholders’ meeting with the President of China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) held at the TY Danjuma House, Asokoro, Abuja.
Speaking during the meeting, Governor Kefas said the collaboration with the Chinese company would help unlock the potentials of Taraba State.
The governor noted that the ongoing rehabilitation and reconstruction of the Danbaba Suntai Airport in Jalingo, which serves as a gateway to the state, demonstrates his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development.
He expressed optimism that the state would soon take a leading role in energy distribution, adding that a new hydropower project in partnership with CCECC would be launched to supply electricity to Taraba and other parts of the country.
Governor Kefas said working with CCECC would enable the state to expand its road network, improve the transportation system, manage its natural resources effectively, and drive economic growth for the benefit of the people.
Commenting on the partnership, the President of China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, CCECC, Chan Sichang, who was represented by the Chief Executive Director of the company, Joe Dongping, described the partnership with the Taraba State Government as a significant step towards the development of the state.
He said the company understands the importance of infrastructure to the progress and prosperity of Taraba and expressed readiness to continue supporting the state. He added that CCECC has over the years remained a major service provider in Nigeria.
Speaking on the development of the Taraba Development Master Plan, Engineer Alex Oniegbu explained that the plan does not focus only on Jalingo, the state capital, but also provides for the development of senatorial zones and all local government areas of the state.
