Taraba Government Reaffirms Commitment to Strengthening Healthcare Access
The Taraba State Government has reiterated its commitment to strengthening access to healthcare facilities across the state.
The commitment was made during a stakeholders’ engagement exercise on the National Emergency Medical Service and Ambulance System (NEMSAS) Rural Emergency Services and Maternal Transportation (RESMAT) programme for impact states under the World Bank assisted project held in Jalingo.
Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Bodiya Buma, expressed confidence in Governor Agbu Kefas’ commitment towards achieving universal healthcare delivery in the state.
On his part, the Resource Person for RESMAT, Dr. Lawal Ahmed Tijjani, revealed that RESMAT is a national programme under NEMSAS aimed at creating a comprehensive emergency medical transportation response system that is efficient and effective.
He identified improved access to timely, quality, effective, and efficient emergency services as core objectives of the programme.
The meeting featured discussions and deliberations on ways to improve emergency care delivery in the state, as well as strategies to ensure accountability and maintain standards in healthcare services.
