Kwararafa University Wukari is set to graduate 1,846 students who have completed their studies and are prepared to make significant contributions to society.
The Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Shishi Zhema, disclosed this during a press briefing ahead of the second combined convocation ceremony held at the main campus in Wukari.
Professor Zhema said he was delighted that 26 of the graduating students achieved first class honours from 15 degree awarding programmes accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
He acknowledged that the achievement reflects the hard work of the students and the dedication of the university’s faculty and staff, who have worked tirelessly to maintain academic standards.
Professor Zhema also announced that the institution would honour three distinguished personalities with honorary doctorate degrees for their outstanding achievements and contributions to societal development.
He said the personalities to receive honorary doctorate degrees are His Royal Highness Matthew Alaji Opaluwa Oguche Akpa II, the Attah of Igala, who will receive a Doctor of Letters; Andrew Laah Yakubu, who will be honoured with a Doctor of Science and is the Chairman of the Kwararafa University Governing Council; and David Sabo Kente, who will receive a Doctor of Public Service.
Professor Shishi Zhema explained that the mission of Kwararafa University remains focused on ensuring that every graduate is fully equipped to advance in their careers and make meaningful contributions to society.
He stressed that the institution has recorded significant improvements in its academic structure, including the establishment of a School of Postgraduate Studies.
He added that the university is undertaking six major infrastructural projects which, upon completion, will support the consolidation of the city campus with the main campus.
