Dangote Cement Plc has unveiled plans to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 20 percent while increasing its production capacity to 80 million tonnes per annum as part of a long term strategy to strengthen its position as Africa’s leading cement manufacturer and promote sustainable industrial growth.
The company said the initiative reflects its commitment to balancing business expansion with environmental responsibility by investing in cleaner technologies, energy efficient production processes and alternative fuel sources across its operations.
According to Dangote Cement, the planned expansion in production capacity is expected to meet the growing demand for cement across Nigeria and other African markets, driven by increasing investments in housing, transport infrastructure and industrial development.
The company noted that reducing carbon emissions remains a key priority as global industries face increasing pressure to adopt environmentally sustainable practices.
