The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sardauna Local Government Area on 21 February 2026 conducted a peaceful local government congress, adopting a consensus leadership list at the end of the exercise.
The congress took place at the Muhammad Mansur Stadium in Gembu and attracted delegates and stakeholders from across the Mambilla Plateau. The exercise followed the ward congress held on 18 February.
Addressing participants, the Executive Chairman of Sardauna Local Government, Hon. M. J. Umar, commended delegates for the orderly conduct of the congress.
He said the leadership list emerged after consultations among various ethnic and religious groups, with attention given to gender balance and the inclusion of persons with disabilities. He also acknowledged the support of Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, in ensuring a smooth process.
A motion for the adoption of the consensus list was moved by Chief Barr. G. T. Kataps, Secretary to the Taraba State Government, and seconded by Alhaji Abubakar Bawa. The motion received unanimous endorsement from delegates at the congress, which was coordinated by Senator Bashir Abba Marafa.
In a separate remark, Senator Marafa, Federal Commissioner of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, praised party members for maintaining unity throughout the ward and local government congresses.
He commended ongoing government policies, citing free education and improved security as key achievements.
Rt. Hon. Abel P. Diah, member representing Mbamnga Constituency in the Taraba State House of Assembly, urged the newly elected executives to strengthen party structures from the grassroots to the national level.
He expressed confidence that Sardauna Local Government would deliver electoral victories for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Agbu Kefas, and other party candidates in the 2027 general elections. He also encouraged outgoing executives to remain active in party affairs.
Comr. Bobboi Bala Kaigama, Federal Commissioner of the Federal Character Commission, lauded stakeholders for the peaceful conduct of the congress and called for sustained cooperation among party members.
At the end of the exercise, Hon. Alhaji Ali Ngiri emerged as Divisional Party Chairman. Comr. Bobboi Bala Kaigama, Ambassador Hassan Jika Ardo, and Hon. Rashida Abdullahi were elected as National Delegates.
Other dignitaries present included members of the Taraba State House of Assembly, commissioners, special advisers, councillors, party officials, and a representative of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Party leaders described the congress as peaceful, inclusive, and reflective of internal unity within the party in Sardauna Local Government Area.
