The Benue State Government has announced plans to commence operations at the Taraku Mills by August, reaffirming its commitment to revitalising the state’s industrial sector and creating new economic opportunities for residents.
Government officials said preparations for the reopening of the facility are progressing steadily, with ongoing rehabilitation and installation of equipment expected to be completed before the target date. The move is part of the state’s broader strategy to revive dormant industries, stimulate local production and attract private sector investment.
The Taraku Mills, once a major agro industrial facility in Benue State, is expected to play a significant role in processing agricultural produce, supporting farmers and strengthening value addition within the state’s agricultural economy. Its return to operation is also anticipated to boost employment by creating both direct and indirect jobs across the production and supply chain.
According to the state government, the project aligns with ongoing efforts to transform Benue’s vast agricultural resources into sustainable economic growth through industrialisation.
