Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has released N500 million for a comprehensive youth empowerment programme.

The Chairman of the Taraba State Youth Development Agency, Prince Gara Nongha, disclosed this in an interview with our reporter in Jalingo.

He explained that the fund is a startup support initiative under the Taraba State Youth Development Agency, aimed at tackling unemployment and supporting young entrepreneurs across the state.

The chairman encouraged youths between the ages of 18 and 40 to register in the ongoing community database initiative designed to improve access to empowerment opportunities and development programmes.

He noted that information gathered through the database will help identify qualified beneficiaries for various empowerment programmes, particularly in agriculture, ICT, and other sectors.

Gara Nongha emphasized that the database is also expected to assist government agencies, private organizations, and development partners in reaching targeted groups within communities.

The chairman affirmed that the agency will soon decentralize the registration centres to local government and ward levels to ensure equal opportunities for young people across the state.

The intervention is expected to significantly reduce youth unemployment, promote small businesses, and position Taraba State as an emerging hub for innovation and economic growth.
