The Federal Government have on Wednesday unveil the Digital National Education Management Information System (DNEMIS), a nationwide digital platform designed to address fragmented education data and strengthen planning, policymaking, and service delivery across Nigeria’s education sector.

Speaking at a media briefing in Abuja, National Project Coordinator of the Special Programmes Operations and Implementation Unit (SPOIU), Adebayo Onigbanjo, described the initiative as a key component of the Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative (NESRI), aimed at building an education system driven by reliable data and evidence-based decision-making.

He said DNEMIS, developed under the Nigeria Education Data Infrastructure (NEDI), will integrate information on schools, learners, teachers, and education investments into a single national database, enabling more effective planning, budgeting, monitoring, and policy implementation.

According to the project coordinator, the platform will replace fragmented and manual data systems with a unified digital framework that promotes transparency, accountability, and improved governance in the education sector.

Also speaking, Special Assistant to the Minister of Education on Digital Communications and E-Learning, Mojoyin Adebajo, said the platform would digitise the Annual School Census and provide real-time education data to support resource allocation and improve learning outcomes.

She added that the launch will feature the Public DNEMIS Portal, which will provide government agencies, researchers, development partners, civil society organisations, journalists, and the public with access to verified education data.

Officials from the Federal Ministry of Education, UNICEF, and other partners described the initiative as a major step toward strengthening education data management and supporting evidence-based reforms across the country.
