Babcock University has warned the public against the circulation of forged academic certificates falsely attributed to the institution, describing the documents as fraudulent and unauthorized.

In a public notice issued on June 29, 2026, the university disclosed that it had uncovered a fake “Honorary Certificate” purportedly awarded to an individual for attaining a “First Class Upper” distinction.

The institution clarified that no such academic classification exists in its grading system, emphasizing that it does not issue honorary certificates in recognition of undergraduate academic performance.

Babcock University further stated that its approved academic classification is “First Class Honours” and not “First Class Upper,” urging the public to disregard the forged document and verify the authenticity of any certificate claimed to have been issued by the institution.

Babcock University urged employers, government agencies, educational institutions, professional bodies, and the general public to disregard any academic document bearing its name that was not issued through its official academic processes.

The university warned that individuals involved in the production, circulation, or use of forged certificates risk investigation and prosecution under the law. It added that it would pursue both civil and criminal action against anyone found misusing its name, logo, seal, or academic credentials.

The institution also advised the public to verify the authenticity of its certificates through the Office of the Registrar before accepting them for any official purpose.
